Avoidance Techniques You Never Thought Of…

HEPA FILTRATION

A HEPA filter, or a High-Efficient Particulate Arresting Filter, is a type of filtration system that needs to meet certain standards of efficiency as set by the United States Department of Energy in order to receive HEPA designation. HEPA filtration is highly-effective at reducing particulate matter in the air, including allergens. Free-standing household air purifiers with HEPA-filtration and vacuums with HEPA-filtration are available for purchase and are recommended.

CLEAN AIR DUCTS

Having your air ducts and vents cleaned out professionally once per year will help eliminate dust and dander that can otherwise swirl throughout the home.

CLEAN AIR FILTERS

Replacing old air filters in your HVAC system and changing them regularly is an effective way to prevent allergen exposure. We recommend allergy-grade filters and changing them every three months.

REPLACE CURTAINS

Fabric curtains are prone to collect dust, dander, and allergens. Replacing fabric curtains with blinds will allow for easier cleaning.

REMOVE STUFFED ANIMALS

Stuffed animals pose particular allergy-exposure risk for children. Though difficult, removing stuffed animals from the bedroom can dramatically reduce dust and pet dander.
