Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery may be recommended for concerns affecting the nose, face, or neck, including:

• Nasal obstruction or structural problems that make it difficult to breathe
• Cosmetic concerns about the shape, size, symmetry, or proportion of the nose
• Nasal deformity following injury, previous surgery, or another medical condition
• Facial injuries involving the skin, soft tissue, cartilage, or bone
• Facial defects following Mohs surgery or other skin cancer treatment
• Partial or complete loss of nasal tissue following rhinectomy
• Scars that are raised, depressed, widened, uncomfortable, or affect surrounding structures
• Facial or neck growths that require soft tissue excision and reconstruction

Your evaluation starts with a review of your concerns, medical history, and goals. Depending on your needs, we may recommend:

• A detailed examination of the nose, face, or neck
• Nasal endoscopy to evaluate the inside of the nose and identify structural causes of breathing problems
• CT or other imaging when deeper facial or nasal structures need to be evaluated
• Review of previous surgical, pathology, or Mohs records when planning reconstruction
• Photographs or facial measurements to help plan rhinoplasty or reconstructive procedures

Treatment is personalized to your condition and goals. Procedures may include:

• Functional & Cosmetic rhinoplasty — improves nasal function, appearance, or both based on your individual needs and goals
• Mohs reconstruction — repairs facial defects following Mohs skin cancer surgery
• Facial trauma reconstruction — restores facial structures affected by injury
• Rhinectomy and reconstruction — reconstructs part or all of the external nose following removal of nasal tissue
• Scar revision — improves the appearance or function of certain scars after injury or surgery
• Soft tissue excision with reconstruction — removes growths or abnormal tissue of the face or neck and repairs the resulting area

In some cases, functional and cosmetic concerns can be addressed during the same procedure. We’ll explain what to expect before treatment and during recovery.
