We’re Here to Help

Balance problems, dizziness, and unsteadiness can make everyday activities feel exhausting or even unsafe. For many patients, these symptoms are linked to how the inner ear and balance system function — and they don’t always improve on their own.

At Michigan ENT & Allergy Specialists, physical therapy is an important part of comprehensive ENT care. Through our partnership with FYZICAL, patients have access to specialized physical therapy focused on balance, dizziness, and vestibular conditions, with care plans tailored to their specific needs. This service is currently available at our Grandville and Holland locations.

Physical therapy services are led by David Krombeen, PT, DPT, who works closely with our ENT team to support coordinated, patient-centered care.

Conditions We Treat

Physical therapy can be an effective treatment option for a range of balance- and movement-related concerns, especially when symptoms involve the inner ear.

We commonly treat:

  • Balance and vertigo — including unsteadiness, spinning sensations, motion sensitivity, and vestibular disorders related to the inner ear
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness — sensations of faintness, disorientation, or imbalance that interfere with daily activities
  • Increased fall risk — balance or coordination issues that raise the likelihood of falls, particularly in older adults or those with vestibular conditions
  • TMJ disorders — jaw pain, headaches, and jaw or neck tension that may contribute to ear-related discomfort
  • Neck and upper body musculoskeletal issues — posture, muscle, or movement concerns that may contribute to balance or dizziness symptoms

We also evaluate other physical therapy concerns related to balance, movement, and functional stability. If something doesn’t feel right, we’re here to help determine the next step.

How We Evaluate

Physical therapy begins with a thorough, one-on-one evaluation. Your physical therapist will take time to understand your symptoms, movement patterns, balance, and functional limitations.

When appropriate, physical therapy care may be informed by prior ENT evaluations or testing, helping ensure a coordinated approach to your care. Progress is monitored over time, with re-evaluations used to adjust your treatment plan as needed.

Treatment Options

Once we understand what’s contributing to your symptoms, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan designed to support safe movement and long-term improvement.

Depending on your needs, physical therapy may include:

  • Vestibular rehabilitation therapy to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and lower fall risk
  • Balance and gait training to improve stability, coordination, and confidence while moving
  • Targeted strengthening and movement exercises to address muscle imbalances and movement limitations
  • TMJ-focused physical therapy to help relieve jaw pain, headaches, and related neck tension
  • Education and home exercise programs to support progress between visits and maintain improvements

Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted as you improve.
